Violist SARAH POE holds performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music (B.M. ‘14) and the Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M. ‘16). She served as a member of the Erie Philharmonic for five years before moving to Dallas in 2020. Locally, Sarah has performed with the Irving Symphony Orchestra, Allen Philharmonic, and is a member of the McKinney Philharmonic. She has also served as Principal Violist of the Aspen Opera Theater Orchestra in Aspen, Colorado and at the Franco-American Vocal Academy in Perigueux, France. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Sarah began studying viola with Laura Shuster at the age of six. Other principal teachers include Jeffrey Irvine, Carol Rodland, Karen Ritscher, and Lynne Ramsey.
Sarah teaches full-time at The Hockaday School as Orchestra Assistant to the Lower, Middle, and Upper School Orchestras and as Private Lessons Faculty. A Suzuki-certified instructor in violin and viola, she completed her teacher training under Kimberly Meier-Sims, director of the Sato Center for Suzuki Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
In her free time, Sarah loves traveling, yoga, and spending time outdoors with her maltipoo, Josie.
